Early February, I spent four days in Toronto – a little getaway in the middle of the semester. And it was the best thing I’ve done in a while; my January was insanely busy, so it was exactly what I needed to get through the rest of the semester.
I haven’t properly seen Toronto since I was three, so Tim and I went on a massive one-day 13km exploration of the city. Our hotel looked out onto both the CN tower and Union Station, and we walked through Kensington Market, St. Lawrence Market, Dundas Square… etc.
We also happened to be downtown during an anti-Trump, #NoBanNoWall, protest, which was pretty powerful. Seeing so many people in a Canadian city stand up against Trump and his policies was incredible.
Food was, unsurprisingly, big on our to-do list – we had two incredible brunches (here and here) and possibly the best Thai food (here) I’ve ever experienced. Vancouver’s food scene is pretty incredible, but Toronto isn’t doing too badly either.
I was only in town for four days, and I definitely wish my trip had been longer. Especially when home is a snow-covered apocalypse. **I’m finally posting this, a month late, and Vancouver is currently making an effort to replicate that snowpocalypse … in March.
